Listening to Michael Parenti
Michael Parenti is an internationally known award-winning author and lecturer. He is one of the America’s leading progressive political analysts. His highly informative and entertaining books and talks have reached a wide range of audiences in North America and abroad.
I had the opportunity to read Michael Parenti’s book “Black Shirts and the Reds” few months back. In that book, I found Parenti to be a clear and balanced writer of the world history and politics, very tough on ABC (Anything But Class) scholars, such as Naom Chomsky. His views are critical to understand the intellectual and ideological currents flowing in the American Left, and, particularly, the upsurge of an anti-Marxist Left in the academic circles.
As Parenti’s books are rarely available and very expensive in Pakistan, I find his audio lectures to be very helpful. If listening to audio lectures appears boring, it needs to be added that Michael Parenti is a very engaging and entertaining speaker. As a reviewer wrote, Parenti is a “tough, hilarious, right-on mix of scholar and street.” His jokes will remain a part of the Left for some time to come.
I will recommend all the readers to download and listen to his audio lecture. It’s easy and convenient. Visit Radio4all.net and type “Michael Parenti” in the search box. You will find a list of lectures to choose from (TUC recordings are the best).
So, take out some time and bandwidth to revolutionize your iPods.
